About
Malcolm C. Burton
Principal
As shown in the attached resume, Burton has gained professional experience and leadership skills working on many public and private projects and would be a strong asset to your construction project.
After graduating from the University of Oregon in 1993, Burton picked up a hammer with a design build firm specializing in residential remodels and outdoor environments. This experience has been invaluable to Burton in understanding constructability issues. After great appreciation for physical labor, Burton began working with Chuck Bailey, Architect AIA. Bailey mentored Burton in custom residential design and construction documents while Burton helped computerize the office drawings. As Burton continued his internship, he sought a broader experience in public bid work.
Burton was hired by WBGS Architecture & Planning PC in 1995, currently known as Pivot Architecture (www.pivotarchitecture.com), to help with the design of a $13 million Public Safety Facility. Work on this design/bid/build project lasted five years, including programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and contract administration.
Other projects included project management for the $25 million expansion of Monaco Coach’s RV manufacturing facilities. This design/build project included the addition of over 12 acres of floor area for the production of class A motor homes.
Burton was project architect for a minimum-security inmate work camp. The Department of Corrections acted as the general contractor using inmate labor to build the wood framed structures and subcontracted the trades. The project consisted of a new 50-bed dormitory, expansion of the dining hall, a new administration building, an observation/laundry building and classroom building.
Burton was project architect for a $10 million school expansion in Brookings, Oregon. He was able to rally the team and get the project out the door on time with bids coming in just under budget. The school was designed using a precast concrete waffle panel with a steel roof structure to help speed erection and control costs in this coastal environment.
When Burton returned to New Jersey in 2003, he was project architect for The Salvation Army – Red Bank Corps with Anderson Campanella Architects in Rumson, NJ. This community center includes a chapel, fellowship hall, gymnasium, classrooms, a commercial kitchen as well as administrative offices. Other project experience included numerous residential projects in affluent Monmouth County neighborhoods.
In 2005, Burton continued his professional experience working for a private architectural firm located in Toms River, NJ. Experience included a number of school projects, municipal projects, public projects and residential projects throughout Ocean County.
In 2007, Burton established Malcolm C. Burton, Architect, L.L.C. , offering residential and commercial architectural design services.
Please call to learn more about the design services he can offer you on your next construction project. 609-607-1659 Sincerely, Malcolm C. Burton, AIA NCARB

- Malcolm Burton is fantastic. We first used him after Super Storm Sandy. I think Malcolm was the only architect in New Jersey that didn't raise his prices. We decided to build again, and without hesitation called on Malcolm. He is extremely patient, kind and very knowledgeable. I am now proud to say that Malcolm Burton has become our friend. I absolutely with highest regards recommend this company. john and sandy maffia- Thomasjohn Maffia. 4/13/2019
